DESCRIPTION:I’ve been hinting at this for months – some changes are afoot at the Holler Homestead. We have been called to open our doors more often and in about a week\, we are doing our first go at this. \nJoin us June 8 at 1pm for fellowship and a Tomato Wall Build—a free afternoon of food\, learning\, and connection near Center Hill Lake. \nWant to come? We’ll provide delicious spring water\, unsweet iced tea\, and (weather depending) hot or iced Holler Roast Coffee. I plan to have a crockpot of something based on the regenerative meats that we raise right here on site. \nAt 2pm\, the build begins: \nThe Tactical Redneck will lead a hands-on session building a Tomato Wall Hydroponics System with integrated vermicomposting. It’s a clever\, scalable approach to producing food while managing organic waste—perfect for both rural and suburban settings. It also is how I keep my house cooler in the summer and this one is a GREAT EXPERIMENT. We may be able to get away with raising the tomatoes without adding mined minerals; hence the vermicomposting integration. We will share all about that during the build. \nPractical tips\, real-time answers to your questions\, and the chance to see a full system come together from the ground up is what is on the agenda. We have been raising tomatoes this way for five years now and have learned what NOT to do. I’ll have a one-page reference for you to go home with that includes a supplies list! \nYou’ll also be able to browse goods from our small country store\, including Holler Roast Coffee and other handmade or homegrown items from the LFTN community. By country store I mean a very humble attempt at selling some of our and other homesteader’s things in the region. More about that in the coming months! \nThe details \n\nOutdoor\, covered event\nComposting outhouses and handwashing stations available\nPlease leave pets at home (we have working livestock guardian dogs)\nWell-behaved children are welcome but must stay with an adult\nParking available on grass\, with someone to guide you when you arrive\n\nWe’re building more than just a tomato wall—we’re building connections.
