Cookies for Christmas: Down Mexico Way

We usually make these and Italian Holiday Cookies the same day.

Mexican Mocha Balls

6 dozen

Preheat to 325° F

Ingredients

1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
1/4 c cocoa
1 TBSP instant coffee powder or 2 TBSP espresso
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries
powdered sugar

Cream butter, sugar, vanilla.

Sift together flour, cocoa, coffee powder and add to batter. Stir in nuts, cherries.

Bake 20 minutes.

Chill. Shape 1″ diameter balls.

Dust hot cookies with confectioner’s sugar. Cool on rack.
